Alchem Global Group was founded in 2013 by Kweku Quansah, an architect, urban designer and development consultant, with a simple conviction: Africa has within it what it takes to transform itself. Inspired by Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, the name Alchem reflects a belief in transformation and in discovering extraordinary value in what already exists.

We believe Africa's future must be built by combining its people, ideas, resources and ingenuity with the best of global knowledge, capital and technology. Africa's conversation with the world should not come from a position of weakness or dependency, but from a position of possibility, partnership and shared opportunity.

Our ambition is not simply for Africa to catch up. It is for Africa to help shape what comes next. Alchem exists to bring together ideas, disciplines, institutions and partnerships to create cutting-edge solutions and systems that transform Africa, benefit its people and ultimately offer new possibilities to the world.

Across the continent, ambitious plans stall in the space between policy and delivery. Governments hold mandates. Investors hold capital. International firms hold technology and engineering capability. Local businesses hold access and execution. Too often, none of them are structurally connected. Alchem was formed to be that connective institution, a Pan-African multisector consultancy that can move from opportunity identification through structuring, financing and delivery without handing the problem to someone else halfway through.
